World Water Day 2023 – Playing our Part in contributing to a better world

Every year since 1993, World Water Day (22nd March) raises awareness and inspires action to tackle the global water crisis of the 2.2 billion people living without access to safe water. At Glanbia we recognise and value water as a precious natural resource and are fully committed to playing our part by reducing freshwater usage and driving water conservation at all our sites.

Glanbia celebrated Workplace Wellbeing Week in April. During this week we held health and wellbeing activities and events for our employees, including local lunchtime mile walks; yoga and dance classes as well as healthy breakfasts and lunches were enjoyed.

Our goal is to support our employees in cultivating a sustainable and balanced approach to physical, nutritional, and mental health. The week was a great success and a meaningful way to get together with colleagues to have some fun while considering how to improve personal workplace wellbeing.

Glanbia completes sale of mozzarella Joint Ventures

Further to its announcement on 01 March 2023, Glanbia plc (the "Group" or “Glanbia”), the better nutrition company, today confirms the completion of the sale of its shareholdings in Glanbia Cheese, a leading mozzarella maker in Europe comprising Glanbia Cheese EU Limited and Glanbia Cheese Limited  (collectively “Glanbia Cheese”), to Leprino Foods Company (“Leprino Foods”).

Our team at Glanbia Nutritionals achieved its best ever performance in both rolling incident rate and rolling lost time rate in 2022. Our focused, committed, and dedicated Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) team drove initiatives and behaviour-based programmes aimed at reducing the number of incidents. By leveraging and centralising data, the team created a live dashboard to demonstrate daily performance and to allow plants to analyse information for their own site and compare it to other operational plants in the network.

Glanbia is working with suppliers and joint venture partners to nurture a sustainable dairy industry and deliver better nutrition responsibly.

While dairy can be a water-intensive business, in a world of increasing water scarcity, the good news is that the dairy industry is also uniquely placed to recover, reuse and recycle water. How? Through a strange-sounding but clever technology known as water polishing.
