Target
of consumer packaging materials being recyclable, reusable or compostable by 2030
Packaging in our operations
Our packaging steering committee and technical teams have been collaborating with industry partners on sustainable packaging options. We progressed global packaging recyclability weights from 62% in 2022 to 76% in 2023. Our performance nutrition business has committed to a target of 83% by the end of 2025 and a 2030 target of 100%.
In 2023, we successfully implemented various packaging projects that will reduce virgin plastic consumption by 20 metric tonnes and paper usage by 50 metric tonnes. At the end of 2023 Optimum Nutrition launched a trial refillable bag programme for its two pound Whey Gold Standard protein in select markets.

2024 priorities
We continue to evaluate materials and designs to ensure progression towards our ambitions. We have a continued focus on the development of food grade bags, recyclable wrappers and evaluation of post-consumer recycled content in each major market.
We are on track to meet our targets of 83% by end of 2025 as an interim milestone to the 2030 target of 100% reusable, recyclable or compostable consumer packaging.
