We’re taking action on climate change by committing to Science Based Targets and reducing carbon in our operations and in our supply chain. We’re using less water and producing less waste. The scale of the challenge means we can’t do it alone, so we’re developing smart partnerships and working with our suppliers to achieve our ambitions together.

Working towards more sustainable
packaging

We’re rethinking our approach to consumer packaging and have committed to all our consumer packaging materials being 100% recyclable, reusable, or compostable by 2030. We are doing this by collaborating with packaging suppliers and recycling vendors to create sustainable packaging options.

Carbon

Our carbon targets are the most material and urgent component of our overall strategy.

Goals:

 
  • Commit to 50% absolute reduction in Scope 1 & 2 GHG emissions by 2030 vs 2018 baseline.
  • 30% absolute reduction in FLAG emissions associated with dairy sourcing by 2030 and a 25% absolute reduction in non-FLAG emissions by 2030 (SBTi validated).

Water intensity reduction

We intend to build on our track record to date of reducing water consumption across the organisation.

Goals:

 
  • Our goal is a further absolute reduction in freshwater use of 10% by 2025, over a 2021 baseline. This is a reduction of over 500 million litres annually.

Waste

Producing less waste sits at the heart of a circular economy, whether by diverting waste from landfill or by reducing food waste in our operations.

Goals:

 
  • We are aiming for TRUE Zero Waste certification at all Glanbia sites by 2025.
  • Our goal is a 50% reduction in food waste by 2030.

Packaging

Our packaging steering committee and technical teams led by GPN, have developed a strategy for consumer facing packaging.
