June 7th is World Food Safety Day and this year's theme is ‘Food standards save lives'. The World Health Organisation highlights the fact that applying science-based food safety standards in the entire supply chain, saves lives.
At Glanbia, we strive to embed a food safety mindset across our organisation and to constantly improve our practices.
Our Quality Leadership Team implements our Glanbia Quality System (GQS). The GQS serves as our own internal code of practice in food safety, aligning with the principle that food standards save lives and supporting us to stay focused in our continuous journey to remain a world class leader in food safety.
"Last year we instituted a motivating way to recognise sites across the business for their pursuit of quality excellence. The introduction of the 'Platinum/Gold/Silver/Bronze' certification, linked to their performance in GQS audits, has encouraged our teams across every site to strive for continuous improvement." says Brian Phelan, CEO Glanbia Nutritionals.
Over the past year, many sites made excellent progress, reflecting the commitment of our employees. In 2023 our sites at 948 in Aurora, Illinois and Twin Falls in Idaho, became our first manufacturing locations to achieve platinum level certification. Both sites have exhibited excellent and consistent performance over time.
