Leading to Accelerate – growing emerging female leaders

Our people are at the heart of our business. We know that Glanbia’s success is powered by our employees and our business grows when our people are enabled to develop their capabilities and skills. Our talent development strategy focuses on nurturing talent from within our organisation, increasing readiness for new opportunities and building our leadership pipeline. Our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion strategy guides us as we grow our talent.

Fostering an inclusive and diverse culture supports our performance and part of our work in this area is to focus on female representation. In 2023, we had 40% female participation in management, an increase on 2022. We aspire to achieve gender balance over time in our management team. Leading to Accelerate, a pilot leadership development programme for emerging female leaders, demonstrates our commitment in this area.

The programme's mission is to grow, connect and develop a diverse network of female leaders. It offers an immersive experience bringing together female leaders from across the organisation for facilitated monthly education sessions, supported by measurable action assignments, group discussions and executive coaching. The learning outcomes from the programme included increasing leadership self-awareness, developing personal leadership narratives, learning and applying the critical concepts of effective leadership, as well as creating a safe and supportive space for emerging female leaders to come together, share experiences and uplift one another.

We plan to build on the strong foundations of this pilot programme for future initiatives. Our continued improvement of female representation at this level reflects our commitment and investment to ensure females can thrive and advance at Glanbia.
