In the early days of COVID-19 emerging globally, Glanbia Ireland put in place measures to safeguard vital services for its farmer suppliers during the national effort to minimise the spread of the virus.
As part of a support campaign ‘We Are With You’, Glanbia Ireland launched a series of measures to help support and protect the national food chain by ensuring the provision of nutritious dairy products.
Farmers worked together with hauliers to put in place hygiene stations on farm to assist drivers, while drivers undertook a series of additional preventative sanitation measures and any close contact was minimised.
Glanbia Ireland’s Business Managers, Farm Development and Milk Quality teams were there to support farmers through the challenges brought on by coronavirus and ensure farms had a consistent supply of feed for animals.
Significant work was undertaken in all 11 of Glanbia Ireland’s manufacturing facilities to ensure they were in the best possible position to handle the challenges with a series of strict protocols in place across all the key areas.
In addition, the network of Agribusiness branches proactively switched to a ‘call and collect’ system to protect vital services for our farming community.
As part of the national effort to contain Coronavirus (COVID-19), customers were asked to place their orders from branches in advance by phone.
Senan Foley, Head of Retail at Glanbia Ireland, explained the decision was made to ensure the stores could continue to provide the full range of farm-related products to keep the national food chain moving.
“This step was taken early to ensure the well-being of our employees and protect our farm customers while supplying essential inputs needed to feed and look after animals on farms,” said Senan Foley. “We really appreciate the dedication of our loyal staff who lived up to the Glanbia values to overcome all challenges.”
