The scientific evidence is clear: Climate Change is impacting health, livelihoods, food security, water supply, human security and economic growth and the effects are more damaging and happening sooner than previously believed. The scale of the challenge demands action across society.

In 2015 we began a group wide sustainability programme and in the intervening years we have built our data sets across the group, whilst working with the internationally renowned Carbon Trust in evolving our strategic direction.

For Glanbia to impact change, and play our part in global collaboration projects, it is important to stay focused on the elements of highest importance. The mechanism for applying this focus is called Materiality. In 2019 we surveyed our stakeholders, from employees, Board, key customers, suppliers, investors, NGOs, and our community to align our sustainability priorities with those of our main stakeholders.

The key topics identified in collaboration with our stakeholders are shown in the matrix. Covering environmental, social, society, business and governance aspects, these topics will now determine our strategic focus with the aim of supporting the business model whilst improving our overall performance in climate change and social impact, contributing to delivering the Paris Agreement on climate change, and the UN Guiding Principles on Human Rights and increasing our alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
