Partnering with Breast Cancer Ireland: A commitment to life-saving research and education

For the past 13 years, Glanbia has proudly partnered with Breast Cancer Ireland, helping to raise funds to support cancer services, research, and education, making a meaningful impact in the fight against breast cancer.

As we approach World Cancer Day on February 4th, Breast Cancer Ireland is releasing its first-ever Social Impact Report, highlighting the achievements that have been made possible through the collective efforts of the charity, its supporters and partners.

Key highlights from Breast Cancer Ireland’s Social Impact Report:

  • €34.5 million raised since 2012: This funding has enabled significant advancements in breast cancer research, treatment and personalised patient care.

  • €15 million invested: To date, the charity has allocated €15 million in funding across 33 international research projects, helping to accelerate the development of innovative treatments and therapies.

  • 56 high-impact journal publications: The research funded by Breast Cancer Ireland has resulted in 56 published papers that are driving global understanding of breast cancer, helping scientists and doctors worldwide make new discoveries.

  • 145,000 people educated: Through its nationwide Education and Awareness Programme, Breast Cancer Ireland has educated over 145,000 people on the importance of good breast health and recognising the 8 signs and symptoms of breast cancer.

Perhaps the most significant achievement of all is the improvement in survival rates over the last decade - Since 2012, the charity’s efforts have contributed to a remarkable increase in survival from 73% to 88%, with mortality rates decreasing by 2% annually. This progress is a testament to the impact of continuous research and education and the support of organisations like Glanbia.

Martha Kavanagh, Corporate Affairs Director at Glanbia said: “We’re incredibly proud of our partnership with Breast Cancer Ireland which has supported their research, education and advocacy efforts over the past thirteen years. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of those affected by breast cancer and advancing the search for a cure.”
