Earth Day 2025 – Glanbia’s commitment to a better world

To mark Earth Day 2025, Glanbia reaffirms its commitment to building a healthier planet through its “Better Nutrition, Better World” sustainability strategy.

This year's Earth Day theme ‘Our Power, Our Planet’ highlights the collective strength of communities, individuals, and organisations to protect and restore the planet through actionable energy solutions.

Glanbia’s Senior Vice President Sustainability, John Dardis, believes that real progress comes from embedding sustainability into every part of the business. He says: “We're not only setting robust KPIs but we're also making year-on-year progress towards them. You can't have better nutrition without a better world."

A core focus is reducing Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions by 50% by 2030. As of 2024, Glanbia has already transitioned 71% of its electricity to renewable sources, with a goal of reaching 100% by 2028. Efficiency is being driven by smart technologies and real-time energy management systems, with partners like EM3 helping identify waste and optimise operations.

Brian O’Shea, Vice President Engineering, Environment, Health & Safety, added: “Many of our sites are now equipped with live data tracking, helping teams reduce electricity and gas usage and plan impactful efficiency projects.”
