Glanbia Nutritionals (previously Global Ingredients) is the business segment formed through the consolidation of Glanbia’s Customized Solutions, Ingredient Technologies and US Cheese businesses. 

Glanbia Nutritionals has a portfolio focused on both dairy and non-dairy nutritional ingredients. We deliver nutritional and functional ingredient solutions, and precision premixes for use in the nutrition-enhanced mainstream food and beverage markets, infant and clinical nutrition and functional nutrition markets. We are also a large-scale manufacturer and marketer of American-style cheddar cheese.

Where you will find our products

Our specialised value-added protein systems and solutions and precision premixes are found in everyday products such as Ready-To-Drink (RTD) beverages, protein enriched bars and snacks, bakery and dairy products, health and wellness supplements and sports nutrition. Our American-style cheddar cheese is predominately used in the retail and food service channels.

2016 Performance

Glanbia Nutritionals delivered a good performance in the first half of 2017 versus the same period in 2016. Revenues increased by 9.0% to €642.2 million and this was driven by positive pricing of 5.9% and a volume increase of 3.1%. Price improvement was primarily related to higher dairy markets. The main driver of volume growth was increased sales of dairy and non-dairy value added systems by Nutritional Solutions. Margins were 10.0% which was a 10 basis point reduction versus the same period in the prior year.

Outlook for 2017

We expect the current momentum in the Nutritional Solutions business to continue into the second half of 2017 which is expected to be the primary driver of EBITA growth in FY 2017.

Nutrition is at the core of Glanbia Nutritionals’ business, whether it’s in the form of 640lb blocks of natural cheese, specialised value-added protein systems or micronutrient premixes. Nutrition has never been more relevant to the global market than it is today. The one-size-fits-all approach to nutrition that existed in the past is gone. Today lifestyle, culture, age, gender and location will all have an influence and nutrition is increasingly becoming tailored to the individual. This has resulted in significant changes in how consumers meet their nutritional requirements which has led to a proliferation of product formats and driven significant innovation across the food sector. 

As a large global provider of ingredient solutions, this provides huge opportunity for Glanbia Nutritionals. Its protein systems have transformed the bar and beverage categories over several years facilitating increased levels of protein, cleaner labels and greater product functionality. Glanbia Nutritionals aim is to ensure that Glanbia continues to leverage both dairy and non-dairy capabilities to meet the ever evolving demands of customers and end consumers across the globe.
